Our Life – A Means To An End
Leviticus 23:39 instructs us to live within temporary dwellings just as ancient Israel did while living in the wilderness. This is to remind us that our lives, though short and temporary, serve a purpose, a specific end. The book of Ecclesiastes, the book the Jews read each Tabernacles, instructs us what that end is. In addition, Jacob’s life and renaming to Israel expresses how both physical Israel was, and spiritual Israel are to view and live their temporary lives. It is critical that we directly apply this understanding in our lives.
